For the Topping
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Swap with mozzarella or another cheese.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Substitute with crushed crackers or omit for gluten-free.
  • 2 tbsp Butter Use olive oil or vegan butter for a lighter option.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente, about 7-10 minutes. Drain and keep warm.
  3. In a baking dish, combine warm noodles, diced chicken, cream of chicken soup, milk, frozen peas, and black pepper. Mix well.
  4. In a bowl, mix together cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, and melted butter. Evenly sprinkle this topping over the casserole base.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes until the top is golden and the edges are bubbling. Optionally, broil for an additional minute for a crispier top.
  6. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving to enhance flavors.
