Step-by-Step Instructions
- Activate the Yeast: Combine 1 cup of warm milk with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of yeast and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix the Dough: Add 3 tablespoons of softened butter, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon of salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually mix in 3 to 4 cups of flour until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Shape the Loaf: Punch down the risen dough, transfer it to a floured surface, and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Second Rise: Cover the loaf pan with a towel and let it rise for 30-45 minutes until it expands above the edge of the pan.
- Preheat and Bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Cooling the Bread: Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
