Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven or air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Allow at least 10 minutes for even cooking.
- Spread your frozen French fries in a single layer on a baking sheet or in the air fryer basket. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter until bubbly. Whisk in 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour for about 2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually pour in 1 cup of milk while whisking continuously. Cook for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Add a pinch of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper, 1 tablespoon of ranch seasoning powder, and 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Stir until combined.
- Reduce heat to low and add 1 cup of shredded white cheddar cheese. Stir until melted and creamy.
- Remove baked fries from the oven. Drizzle cheese sauce over the hot fries and sprinkle with extra cayenne pepper if desired.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
