Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven or air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Allow at least 10 minutes for even cooking.
  2. Spread your frozen French fries in a single layer on a baking sheet or in the air fryer basket. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt 4 tablespoons of butter until bubbly. Whisk in 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour for about 2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Gradually pour in 1 cup of milk while whisking continuously. Cook for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Add a pinch of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper, 1 tablespoon of ranch seasoning powder, and 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Stir until combined.
  6. Reduce heat to low and add 1 cup of shredded white cheddar cheese. Stir until melted and creamy.
  7. Remove baked fries from the oven. Drizzle cheese sauce over the hot fries and sprinkle with extra cayenne pepper if desired.
