Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 1 lb Ground Chicken can substitute with minced turkey
  • 8 leaves Lettuce Leaves sturdy varieties like Iceberg or Romaine are best
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil or sesame oil for more flavor
  • 1 medium Onion any type, including yellow or green
  • 1 tbsp Ginger fresh preferred
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp Hoisin Sauce look for gluten-free options
  • 1 tbsp Oyster Sauce or omit for dietary preferences
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free
  • 1 tbsp Vinegar white or rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha to adjust spice level
  • 1 tbsp Honey or maple syrup/agave
  • 1 tsp Sugar can be omitted or swapped for stevia
  • 1 cup Chicken/Vegetable Stock or water in a pinch

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, soy sauce, honey, vinegar, sriracha, minced garlic, and sugar. Stir until smooth and set aside.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chopped onion and ginger, cooking for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds.
  4. Add ground chicken, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for 5–7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked chicken and stir to coat. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until sauce thickens.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in toasted sesame seeds and chopped spring onions. Adjust spice with red pepper flakes if desired.
  7. Spoon the filling into lettuce leaves and serve immediately.
