Ingredients

For the Burger
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Use 80/20 beef for that perfect juicy patty.
  • Burger Rub Enhance flavor with spices like paprika and garlic powder.
For the Bacon Jam
  • 1/2 lb Bacon Feel free to swap with turkey bacon for a lighter option.
  • 1/2 Onion Diced; yellow onions work best.
  • 2 tbsp Pickled Jalapeños Gives a spicy kick; substitute with fresh jalapeños if preferred.
  • 1 cup Grape Jelly Any fruit jelly can work here.
  • 1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar White vinegar is a good substitute.
  • 1/4 cup Honey Maple syrup is an excellent alternative.
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar Consider coconut sugar for a healthier swap.
For Toppings
  • American Cheese Switch to cheddar or pepper jack for a unique taste.
  • 1-2 tbsp Crunchy Peanut Butter Swap for smooth peanut butter or almond butter if desired.

Equipment

  • Grill
  • Frying pan

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Form patties by shaping the ground beef into three equally sized patties, weighing about 1/3 pound each. Season generously with burger rub and let sit for 15 minutes.
  2. In a frying pan over medium heat, chop the bacon into small pieces and cook until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels, reserving 1 tablespoon of fat.
  3. Sauté the diced onion in the reserved bacon fat for 4-6 minutes until translucent and aromatic.
  4. Return crispy bacon to the pan and stir in pickled jalapeños, grape jelly, apple cider vinegar, honey, and brown sugar. Cook on low heat for 5-10 minutes until thick.
  5. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Grill patties for 4-5 minutes per side until desired doneness. Top with American cheese to melt.
  6. Assemble the burger starting with the bottom bun, place the cheesy patty, add bacon jam, and spread crunchy peanut butter on the top bun before closing.
  7. Serve with a side of sweet potato fries or salad.
